Educational Series and Support at BWMC

Orthopedic specialists from Advanced Orthopedics at Baltimore Washington Medical Center offer “Joint School” to provide a free educational opportunity for patients who are considering having total joint replacement surgery or interested in learning more about joint replacements. The program is offered every other month on the third Wednesday at 4 p.m. Meetings are held at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, located at 301 Hospital Drive. Presented by Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses, the program explains the details of total joint replacement surgery and gives those who are contemplating whether or not to have surgery an opportunity to ask questions and receive information on what to expect during the preparation and recovery stages of the procedure. The remaining session of “Joint School” for 2011 is November 16. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling 410-553-8282.

Baltimore Washington Medical Center and the American Cancer Society are teaming-up to offer “Man-to-Man,” a monthly education and support group for men and their significant others to learn about the topics related to prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment and management. The program is offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the Tate Center Conference Room located on the first floor. Upcoming dates for 2011 include November 21 and December 19. The program is free and light refreshments will be provided. Reservations are not requested. Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers a stroke support group for stroke survivors, high-risk stroke candidates and anyone interested in learning more about stroke recovery and prevention. The program is offered from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Dr. Constantine Padussis Conference Center located on the third floor of the medical center. Upcoming dates for 2011 include November 8 and December 13.
