Wil and Donna Hershberger Artists for April/May 2012

Wil and Donna Hershberger will be exhibiting in the Hollingsworth Gallery of Patuxent Research Refuge’s

National Wildlife Visitor Center April through mid-May, 2012.

Wil Hershberger writes that he’s been interested in photography since he was “old enough to use my father’s meticulously cared-for equipment.” Recently, he has switched to a Canon system whose results are indeed wonderful. The photo gallery, created with his wife, Donna, is comprised of images of birds caught in their “natural behavior” as well as insects, wildflowers and “scenics.”

The couple’s website (http://www.natureimagesandsounds.com) features examples of their “large and growing collection of exquisite images of birds, insects and mammals.” They also offer nature photography workshops for beginners and intermediates. In addition to photography, Wil Hershberger has recorded and archived nearly 2000 natural sounds at Cornell University’s McCaulay Library. His collection includes unusual bird vocalizations and orthopteran singing (of the order of insects that includes grasshoppers and crickets). Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hear the sound as we view the photos!

Visit the Hollingsworth Gallery at the National Wildlife Visitor Center to view the work of this wonderful artist. The Visitor Center is located off of Powder Mill Road between the Baltimore/ Washington Parkway and MD Rt. 197, south of Laurel, Maryland.
