New County Executive Neuman meets the public

Residents from across Anne Arundel County stood in line for two hours Thursday night to meet new County Executive Laura Neuman one-on-one at Northeast High School in Pasadena.

For most it was the first opportunity to meet the county’s appointed executive, and a chance to express concern over issues facing their communities, such as the environment and public safety.

“People really care, and that comes through,” Neuman said after the meeting. “One of the things I learned was that our county employees know about every issue”
  

The Northeast cafeteria was full of energy as Neuman walked into the room about 15 minutes past the scheduled 5:30 start time. She smiled and started shaking hands with residents and public officials.

There were more than 40 men and women waiting to meet Neuman for private conversations.“Let’s go folks!” Neuman shouted as she started the session by sitting behind a table, with aides.
