Stormwater veto leaves Anne Arundel County in limbo
The county executive's veto of a stormwater bill could negate months of work by the County Council and put Anne Arundel in danger of missing state-mandated deadlines, supporters of the legislation said.
But opponents say the bill, under which property owners would be charged annual fees to pay for pollution cleanup, imposed an unfair burden.
"The bill for the most part has flown under the radar," said Councilman Derek Fink, R-Pasadena, one of three councilmen who voted against the measure. "This is the largest tax increase the county has ever passed, and I believe the council will start all over again."
