Movers Collect over 2 Tons of Food to Fight Hunger
- 178,000 Maryland children do not know where their next meal is coming from.
- One in six Marylanders are unable to afford enough food.
- Hungry Marylanders miss nearly 78 million meals each year
Baltimore, MD –
May is national moving month. As a result, local moving companies from
around the state joined forces on May 4 to help fight hunger needs in the
communities that they serve.
In recent years the recession
resulted in many food banks and charities being overwhelmed and unable to keep
up with demand. Charities commonly receive large donations during the
winter holidays, only to see those donations fall off in the spring and summer,
but the need for their services does not. For that reason Maryland movers
set up moving vans, trucks and storage units around the state where people dropped
off donations for delivery to their local food banks or charities.
