Anne Arundel Community College is taking
applications for new scholarships through the Ratcliffe Scholars program
that offer support for entrepreneurs as they learn skills to launch and
grow businesses.
The
Ratcliffe Scholars program, supported by the Philip E. and Carole R.
Ratcliffe Foundation, is seeking applicants with entrepreneurial spirit
and drive who have the potential and motivation to succeed as business
owners. The deadline for a fall 2013 award is Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
The deadline for a spring 2014 award is Nov. 6, 2013.
New are four types of scholarship and one grant:
- New and current students can enter the program through the Entrepreneurial Discovery Scholarship, which provides up to $1,400 per year for up to two years to cover tuition and fees for business management or entrepreneurial studies courses.
- Current business owners aiming to improve skills in a particular area of business may apply for the Small Business Owners Scholarship, up to $1,000 per year for up to two years to cover tuition and fees for business management or entrepreneurial studies courses.
- Students who have completed specific business or entrepreneurial coursework and seek real work experience are eligible to apply for the Internship Scholarship, a maximum of $1,800 to cover tuition and fees for “Internship in Business 1” (ESI 175) and associated internship requirements.
- Students who have a clear and viable business plan may apply for the Business Incubator Scholarship, a maximum award of up to $5,000 per year for up to two years.
- Those who have completed time in the incubator may apply for a grant from the Enterprise Fund Grant, a one-time award of up to $25,000 that can help pay startup costs such as permits, signs, equipment, renovation or insurance.
