Darrell Mobley resigns from Maryland transportation department

Darrell Mobley resigned on Tuesday from state government.
Darrell B. Mobley, Maryland’s acting secretary of transportation for the last 10 months, has resigned from state government.

Mobley announced his departure from the Maryland Department of Transportation at Tuesday’s meeting of the Maryland Port Commission. Mobley told the port commissioners he submitted his resignation to Gov. Martin O’Malley on June 3 and plans to pursue a career outside of state service.

Administration officials confirmed on Tuesday that Mobley was offered the position of executive secretary of the Maryland Transportation Authority, but he declined. The position remains vacant.
