ALEXANDER KOFF APPOINTED TO STATE OF MARYLAND INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

July 17, 2013, Baltimore, MD — Whiteford Taylor & Preston LLP is delighted to announce that Alexander Koff, Partner and Co-Chair of the International practice at the firm, has been appointed by Governor Martin O'Malley to the State's International Advisory Council.

Gov. O'Malley commented, "The Council's mission is simple, but of the utmost importance: to provide strategic guidance to the State's international initiatives, especially with respect to the Department of Business and Economic Development."

The Council is chaired by Harold Adams, President of HLA LLC, and includes distinguished public officials, such as the Maryland Secretaries of State and Agriculture; representatives of academia (Ron Daniels, Johns Hopkins University, and Brit Kirwan, University System of Maryland); and business leaders from Perdue, Qiagen, and TeleCommunications Systems, among others.

Mr. Koff's practice focuses on international business transactions, litigation and arbitration, government investigations, and regulatory issues, with a particular emphasis on international trade and the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He serves as general counsel to U.S. companies and foreign subsidiaries in the United States, and as special counsel to other lawyers on international issues.

Mr. Koff counsels clients across a number of industries and technologies. His work spans most of the world, including Asia, Europe, Africa and South America. His clients range from entrepreneurs to large, publicly-traded corporations. He also advises governments on implementation and enforcement of international obligations. His experience covers all aspects of international law.
