The Chronicle of Higher Education Recognizes Howard Community College for the Fifth Year!

The Chronicle of Higher Education announced that Howard Community College is a “Great College to Work For” --- again! This is the fifth consecutive year that the national publication, which is cited as the leading source on higher education issues, has named HCC as one of the best colleges in the country to work for (http://chronicle.com/section/Academic-Workplace-2013/729/). There’s more…  HCC is the only community college in Maryland to be selected five consecutive times for the distinction, and is one of only 12 community colleges in the U.S. to be named to the 2013 Honor Roll.

The national recognition is based on the results of a survey completed by 44,688 employees at 300 colleges and universities in the U.S. In fact, HCC was one of only 21 community colleges recognized and was among 42 institutions to receive Honor Roll distinction.

The Chronicle recognized HCC as a “Great College to Work For” in the following categories:

  • Collaborative Governance
  • Professional/Career-Development Programs
  • Facilities
  • Workspace & Security
  • Job Satisfaction
  • Work/Life Balance
  • Confidence in Senior Leadership
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship
  • Respect and Appreciation
  • Diversity

What’s best about this recognition is that it was generated by the survey responses submitted by our own faculty and staff. Their extraordinary work and dedication continues to set HCC apart nationally as a best practice!
