Minimum wage across the U.S.

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour for most workers. Nineteen states and the District mandate a minimum wage higher than the federal minimum. Although bills are pending in Congress to raise the federal minimum wage, most observers consider passage a long shot. If a state has no law or a lower rate, the minimum pay defaults to the federal rule.
