WSSC Unveils Solar Power at Two Treatment Plants

Separate Events in Upper Marlboro and Germantown
Showcase Alternative Energy Initiatives


LAUREL — November 4, 2013Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission (WSSC) is holding two events to unveil solar power installations on Wednesday, November 6. The two 2-megawatt installations, each with nearly 8,500 solar panels spanning several acres, are located at the Western Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant in Upper Marlboro and the Seneca Wastewater Treatment Plant in Germantown, Md. Both facilities are the result of a public-private partnership with Washington Gas Energy Systems and Standard Solar, Inc.
