Washington County delegate to offer minimum-wage alternative bill


ANNAPOLIS — Washington County Del. Neil Parrott said Wednesday that he will introduce a bill to the Maryland General Assembly this session that would allow counties to set their own minimum wage rates.

The bill — which Parrott is calling the “County Choice Minimum Wage Bill” — is being sponsored in the Senate by state Sen. Barry Glassman, R-Harford.


“Western Maryland, Central Maryland, the D.C. suburbs and the Eastern shore each have a distinctive character and individual needs. For the minimum wage rate in Maryland, one size does not fit all,” Parrott said in a news release.
