Team Wins at the Regional Level
They call it the “college bowl” of the water industry. Three members of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission’s (WSSC) Production Team were recently named as the regional winners of the Top Ops Competition at the 2011 CSAWWA, CWEA and WWOA Tri-Association Conference.
In Top Ops, water operators from around the region compete in a Jeopardy style contest, answering technical questions – everything from contaminant levels to converting electrical energy.
The first place team of Ronnell High, Dinesh Bahadursingh and John Luu was recognized for their achievement today by the WSSC Commissioners. The trio will head to Dallas next summer to compete at the American Water Works Association’s annual conference.
“Our water operators are dedicated to providing clean, safe water to our customers around the clock,” said Jay Price, Acting Chief of Production. “Their exceptional knowledge not only makes them winners in these competitions, but it also means they are among the best in the business when it comes to water production and treatment,” Price said after they were recognized today by the WSSC Commissioners.
Since first competing in 1995, the Patuxent Plant Team has won the Tops Ops competition at the regional level seven times, including four consecutive wins since 2008, and a second place finish at last year’s AWWA National competition.
