Howard Technology Council Announces Tech Company of the Year Award Winners


The Howard County Economic Development Authority’s Howard Technology Council is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Technology Company of the Year Awards.  The Howard Tech Council (HTC) is being revitalized, revamped and renewed in 2012 to meet the growing needs of the regional tech community.  Julie Lenzer Kirk, the new Director of the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, is leading the charge to transform HTC into a premier regional catalyst for tech companies at every stage of growth. Kirk understands that “innovation is critical and harnessing that creativity by building a strong core is what will help companies expand and flourish”.

Each year the HTC chooses local companies that represent the best of Howard County through their success, their creativity and ingenuity. They will be recognized at the 2012 Annual Technology Awards on June 19.

2012 Award winners include:

1.      Technology Advocate – Ira Levy, Chief Information Officer, Howard County Government

2.      Technology Legend – Larry Cox, Senior Vice President - SAIC

3.      Supporter of the Council – Howard Community College

4.      Green Company of the Year - greeNEWit

5.      Life Sciences Company of the Year – Audacious Inquiry

6.      New/Emerging Company of the Year – Tactical Network Solutions

7.      Technology Company of the year -  Howard County General Hospital

EDA CEO Laura Neuman invites the community to the Award dinner on June 19, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab’s Kossiakoff Center. Bob Wallace of Bithgroup Technologies will be giving the keynote speech. This promises to be a fun night for all.
