Officials of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority have
proposed using 78 acres the agency owns at its Greenbelt station to
bolster efforts to have a new FBI headquarters built in Prince George’s
County.
The real estate committee of Metro’s board of directors is expected to vote Thursday on the proposal.
Making the land — where Metro currently has more than 3,700 parking
spaces and 17 bus bays — available for the FBI could give Prince
George’s a leg up in the fierce competition to attract the law
enforcement agency and as many as 11,000 of its employees.
