Homeowners in Anne Arundel County will pay an average of $26 more in property taxes next year under County Executive Laura Neuman’s fiscal 2014 budget proposal.
Though less than the $90 increase the average property owner absorbed last year, it’s the maximum allowed under the county’s property tax revenue cap.
It’s usual for the county to take the most it can under the cap, and officials say the money is needed.
“I believe the county is
extremely underfunded,” said Councilman John Grasso, R-Glen Burnie.
“That’s why we’re always in last place with everything. But to be No. 1,
you’ve got to collect money from people.”
