If you missed the September 12th Seminar, hosted by the BWCC’s Talent Seeker Group at Laurel Regional Hospital, you missed a lot of great information, especially on what documents you need to present to employees by the October 1 deadline imposed by the Federal Government.
Employers subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act are required to provide informational notices to their employees regarding the health insurance marketplaces created by the Affordable Care Act, also known as "Exchanges." The employer is obligated to provide to each current employee, on or before October 1, 2013, a written notice describing the individual employee's options in the Exchanges, and to all employees hired subsequent to October 1, within 14 days of hire.
Providing information as experts were Tequila Terry, Director, Plan & Partner Management, Maryland Health Benefit Exchange; Mary Hesse, CBC, President of Corporate Insurance Systems; and, Deborah Rivkin, Esq., Vice President-Government Affairs, MD, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.
The program was moderated by Christopher M. Rutzebeck, Benefits Manager, of Human Resources, Inc. Sample forms to be provided to employees were provided to all attendees of the seminar.
