The Hon. C. Philip Nichols, Jr., Circuit Court Judge & Chairman of Dimensions Healthcare Systems, Briefs BWCC Board on $650M Regional Hospital

At its September 10th Board meeting, Judge Nichols provided an overview of the planned $645 million hospital, to be located at the Largo Town Center.  If approved by Maryland regulators, the hospital would be built on about 25 acres just outside the Beltway at the Largo Town Center Metro stop.  The teaching hospital would replace the current Prince George’s Hospital Center, in Cheverly, with a full-service medical center and trauma center operated by the University of Maryland Medical System. If all moves forward as planned, the hospital could open in 2017, serving Prince George’s and Southern Maryland.

Judge Nichols, who has extensive family roots in Laurel, reminded the Board that his father was elected the first secretary of the Chamber’s Board, back in 1947 when it was first formed.

Judge Nichols answers a question posed by Board member Cathy Martin, Chief Purchasing Officer for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, as Board Chair Josie Thompson, Thompson Design, listens.
